With the decent graphics and these C2D's they make the iMac a formiddable machine. Alot of PowerMac's are going to be replaced by these new iMac's i feel. Probably Apple's most impressive, solid and reliable machine at the moment
No one who needs powerful graphics could go for anything except maybe the 24". The x1600 is pretty low-end for a mid-range desktop by now, and the nvidea 7600 is not bad but certainly not a powerhouse. And why would you say that the imacs are more "impressive, solid, and reliable" than the mac pros? Better values, maybe, but more impressive, solid, and reliable? :confused:

I think they need to learn how to do math. How can you have an 18.8% cumulative annual growth rate when your market share goes down from 15.7% to 15.3%?
Because the market as a whole is growing faster than Apple's own growth rate. The rate of Native American population growth could be 50% growth annually, but their share of the overall American population could still be stagnant or shrinking.

'07? They've been planning for for years is seems like and '07 is the best they can do? I figure the biggest issues are dealing with the US telcos. They want the UI to look like they dictate. They want to charge for music download/transfer to the phone. Apple has not succeeded in getting movies studios to back iTV and iTunes. They may not have luck with telcos either.
Seems like all the good products are being delayed or havent happened. iTV, 07, iPhone 07, new video ipod... missing.

"Apple" can't be used to trademark a fruit, but it can be used to trademark a computer. "Windows" can't be used to trademark "windows of a house" but it can be for an operating system. "App store" can be trademarked for a brothel but not for a store that sells computer applications.

curious about that myself. historically, have there been "special events" like this without a stevenote? (or a philnote, for that matter)

Thank you, Greenpeace. Public awareness is what it's all about. If Apple does not like it, maybe it's time to shape up and actually try to live up to the "environmentally friendly" image that they have been trying to create.
Implicit in this comment is that Apple "didn't like" Greenpeace and tried to shut them down. Why the assumption that Apple was behind this? If this MacExpo is anything like the MacWorlds here in the U.S., then it's not run directly by Apple., so it would've been the decision of whoever was running MacExpo to actually kick Greenpeace out...

None of iTMS's current video content has any commercials. Why would you expect anything different for features?
I beg to differ. Various episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse I have bought have had ads/trailers for other Playhouse Disney shows (Little Einsteins, Higglytown Heroes) tacked on to the end of the show. I just checked my iPod and they added two minutes of ads to then end of a 24 minute show.
EDIT: FWIW I know that it's not Apple who put the ads there, it's Disney, but that doesn't change the fact that the files took 8% longer to download and are 8% larger on my HDD because they included 2 minutes of ads in each episode I bought for $2 and they don't offer a season pass. :mad:

Only in America.... Bad form unless it was in defence. How about non lethal take downs, fair courts and appropriate justice, such as jail with community service, get criminals doing something constructive for society and trying to get them back on track?
The right to carry guns and to kill absolutely baffles me. Surely shooting and killing is a worser crime than stealing? The threat of being shot/killed sounds too authoritarian/totalitarian for me.

Please read that the updated article that 40 shots were exchanged during gunfire...It was in self defense.

Too bad it won't serve as a warning to criminals to stop breaking into Apple stores. I hope it wasn't some white guard, black criminal shooting. That will really cause a lot of negative feedback.

I have nothing against Greenpeace or the message that Greenpeace is trying to send about the environment. If Greenpeace's presence (or more specifically, Greenpeace volunteers' presence) at other public events is any representation, I am not surprised at their behavior.

I don't even know why am I so excited about this since I always have my iPod classic with me.
Even though it would be awesome if iPhone had an external-cloud based space of 160 GB to substitute my loaded gem. That could seriously break the need for 256 GB SSDs in iPhones for us audiovores...

The current design is still beautiful and didn't get old over time - still one of the best designs for Laptops ever ... but hey, they might come up with something even more 'magical'.

After having seen the actual claims, I don't think so. Apple was forced to do this. Notice there are quite a few trademark claims in there, relating to icon design, and trade dress claims.
The problem with Trademarks is that if Apple doesn't enforce them, they will lose them. As such, their hand is forced in this. However, just the trademark claims would make for one small suit and would make it so some of them might get thrown out. Enter the design patent claims to "pad" the lawsuit and to use as bargaining chips.
In the end, Apple may just drop the patent claims during settlement negotations and get awards for all their trademarks, which is probably what they are seeking.

It seems to me that by "MB" he did not bean "MacBook" as is the most common use of these two letters, but "Mother Board" which makes perfect sense, covers all Yonah macs and is perfectly true. Disregarding the soldering issue of the 'books, which is a different point.
I'm a convert from the PC mob and whenever I see MB I automatically think of "Main Board" as well.
