I just want them to bump up the Macbook so then I can go ahead and buy my fist Mac. I just want to buy it when its the most current.
Ya, that's that I'm hoping. For the same reason too. I've used macs forever, but never owned my very own (other than an old PowerMac 7500). I also hope they update the ipod soon, I want to get the latest and greatest but I need to order by wednesday :-p

Well if it gives you 64 bit memory addressing then it certainly is a newer chip I'm not sure what you where expecting an new front side bus maybe? Maybe the chip set (945) is a modest upgrade but in the case of he IMac if it were implemented would have resulted in a larger address space for the PC. That is a real change. It is interesting that Apple apparently didn't implement Napa64 in the new iMac, I do wonder why as the release dates almost coincide.
As for Santa Rosa what there is so important to you that you want to wait? Just curious as I'm far from being in a position to purchase a new PC at the moment so this discussion doesn't really matter. It is more of a technical interest than anything else.http://guides.macrumors.com/Merom
That sounds like a description for the old D model but you are saying a single die. Frankly it sounds like a dead end processor to me. Communications between the two subsections should be via a separate communications path. I have this feeling that the manufactures are rushing to quad core a little to fast.
DaveYou are correct it is a rushed quad core. At least we get more cores out a little faster. Though it's not the best implementation.

Why so many negative votes?
I'm guessing it's because every computer maker has announced the new Core 2 Duo but Apple hasn't.That's why I voted negative.

I don't claim to know a thing about trademark law, but looking at this simply I find it difficult to understand how the term "Windows" can become a trademark but "App Store" cannot.
(I feel dirty defending Microsoft, but...)
Microsoft aren't selling windows called Windows, they're selling an OS called Windows. It is a generic phrase, but it's not a generic phrase for the object it describes. App Store is (to me at least!) a generic phrase for an application store.

I am confused. If your Mac is networked, why not just share your music folder on your network so any computer etc can play the music from the shared music folder on the mac?
I think it's a matter of push streaming vs pull

I heard I think here at macrumors that Sony's mp3/phone is selling like hotcakes and I think they branded it as a walkman/cell phone.
What I hope is that the iPhone will be on Cingular, since my entire family and most of my friends are on it. I'd pass on the phone if they do one of those new deals where you're piggy-backing on other networks like Alltel (alltell, altell??) or it's on another carrier.

The only way that would happen would be for the phone to be GIVEN away at a price so LOW that nobody would refuse it. And it would have to include a data plan that costs practically nothing. And it would have to be contract free.
Oh, look! There is an ad below this for HTC Aria for just 1 - Free shipping - AT&T.
That's kind of where I was going... but businesses would switch from Blackberrys to Windows Phones. I wouldn't put it past MS to offer some sort of crazy business discount to get companies to change.

Terrible choice of image for an analogy. Lacks imagination. Not a good trait for success in the creative field. Go back to BD thread and take a look at how others use imagery to make a point. But thanks for the laugh.

It's interesting. Every single poster here clearly disagrees with your actions (which are undeniably illegal) and your justification (including your improper blame on the woman driving in front of you). And yet, it's everyone else that must be wrong, not you.
Like I said, it's interesting.

They have plenty of patents. It wasn't until the 90s that the patent madness really started with software. Google is also leading the bidding for a large portfolio of mobile patents to protect them against Apple and Microsoft.
Actually, they don't have the Nortel patents yet. A good read if you really believe Google is "patently strong" :

Yes of course it can, you obviously don't understand what x86_64 is.
Manic Mouse obviously understands what 64 bit means. that is obvious if one is able to read the post.;)
i also wonder if the new systems are really future proof or if hybrid systems like this will in a few years be not compatible. also how will windows run on a system like this? what about games that usually expect a certain hardware setup?

First and foremost, though i am repeating what others have said... this is still a 5g ipod... This update was VERY minor... I say expect an iphone at macworld 06, and ipod 6g somewhere in 1st quarter of 07 (maybe macworld).

I think this is enough to show that Microsoft is unequivocally correct. The term has been in use for much longer than Apple's launching of the store and it has been ubiquitous in the computer industry for a long time.
The way to distinguish (if it needs to be done) between app stores is by saying the name of the app store before hand, ie the Apple App Store, the Amazon App Store, or the Microsoft App Store.
How long has Apple been using .app as an extension for applications?

Sounds like he doesn't drive, and just wanted this topic for attention. But I could be wrong..
On the other note. You wonder why insurance for young/new drivers is so high.
I'm taking my test on the 24th May (UK), my insurance has been quoted to me at 1700.00 for the year. This is because I am male, and 20. So I must be a "racer boy"... I'm not sure what it's like in America. But the reason I get quoted that kind of insurance is because of drivers like you. It's very irresponsible of you to drive like that, and then brag about it. But I don't think it even happened.

I just bought my iMac before Apple went Intel, so i have no plans to upgrade just yet. I will probably hold out until summer 2008 and then get a MacBook Pro with the following specs:
17" Screen (1920 x 1200)
3.0 Ghz Dual Core Processor (Santa Rosa)
2 GB RAM
512 MB Graphics Card
250 GB Hard Drive (Perpendicular)
HD-DVD or Blue-Ray Drive
